谷爱凌亮相Met Gala前，先去做了这件事！

众星云集，首次亮相，抽时间做

周日，谷爱凌飞到了纽约。昨天，还没来得及倒时差，就参加了叫作Met Gala

（纽约大都会艺术博物馆慈善晚宴）

的大活动。

美国很多媒体都报道了这场活动，也频繁地提到了谷爱凌，不过，照片很多，文字很少。专门报道谷爱凌一个人的，似乎只有英国的《每日邮报》。

The American-born athlete, who controversially competes for China, posed for photos outside of The Mark Hotel prior to attending the star-studded benefit, which is held annually at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the first Monday in May.

这位美国出生的运动员，代表中国队比赛，引起了很多争议。她在参加这场众星云集的慈善活动之前，在马克酒店外拍照。该活动在每年 5 月的第一个星期一在大都会艺术博物馆举行。

stud可以作动词，表示点缀，覆盖，star-studded表示点缀着很多明星，也就是众星云集的意思。

看到后面的benefit一词，你可能觉得有点奇怪，因为这是个常见词，意思是益处，福利。不过，benefit还有一个意思是an event such as a concert or game that is intended to raise money for a particular player or charity，即旨在筹集资金的慈善活动。

《每日邮报》除了报道这场活动，还特意提到谷爱凌对于运动的热爱。她是周日才到纽约的，到了以后，马上就去跑步倒时差了：

The athlete arrived in New York on Sunday and went straight for a run in Central Park, which she called her 'jet lag cure' on her Instagram Stories.

这位运动员周日抵达纽约，然后直接去中央公园跑步，她在 Instagram中称其为“时差特效药”。

这句话比较简单，没什么难的词。jet lag这个搭配表示时差。

cure不仅可以表示药物，疗法，也可以表示a solution to a problem，即解决办法。

不仅下了飞机就跑步，在参加活动当天的早上，她还挤出时间去健身房锻炼：

She also fit in a workout before getting ready for the gala.

在为晚会做准备之前，她还抽时间进行了锻炼。

fit这个词很短，就3个字母，不过这个词的意思非常多，有好几十个。这里fit in表示find room or have sufficient space for someone or something，即抽出时间，找时间做某事的意思。

workout一词在之前关于刘畊宏的文章中就出现过，意思是a period of physical exercise or training，即体育锻炼，训练。

谷爱凌现在才18岁，不过这已经是她第2次参加Met Gala了：

Gu made her Met Gala debut just eight months ago at last year's event, which was held in September after being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

就在八个月前，谷爱凌首次亮相去年的 Met Gala。该活动在因疫情而推迟到 9 月举办。

debut表示首次登台亮相，要注意的是，发音是[deɪˈbjuː]，这里的t是不发音的。

这个才18岁的小姑娘，已经在中国拿了3块奥运金牌，在美国参加了2次Met Gala，马上又要去斯坦福读大学了。谷爱凌，为什么就这么优秀呢？
