Investment Principal, BGI 
Location: 2/3 in US, 1/3 in China 
Job Description:
The investment principal will be a senior member of the investment team, with significant experience in venture capital and a background in biomedical sciences, and will have responsibility for end-to-end sourcing, negotiation and execution of deals, as well as post-close oversight of on-going relationships. The investment principal identifies early stage companies that can fill the gaps or add to BGI’s businesses roadmaps. This is done by identifying the potential targets, working with the business to acquire a minority position, develop, maintain, and manage the relationship with the target to drive growth for the length of the investment. 
Essdential Job Functions：
  1. Establish and broaden an effective open innovation network for sourcing technologies 
  2. Identify, evaluate and develop high potential targets that are relevant to the BGI business
  3. Assess and perform due diligence and venture style funding for potential target 
  4. Lead transaction negotiations. 
  5. Manage portfolio investments through frequent interaction with company leadership (management, board, investors) and strategic partners 
  6. Facilitates collaboration between targets and BGI businesses 
  7. Be able to put together multi-company deal structures. This could include investing alongside other large corporate investors but could also include investing in multiple companies that could, together provide a collaborative solution to BGI 
  8. Able to travel most of the time 
Education: 
  1.  Master/PhD in biomedical sciences. 
Experience: 
  1. 3-6 years of relevant work experience in Corporate Venture Capital, or PE/VC 
Capabilities: 
  1. Entrepreneurial mindset, strong leadership skills, results driven 
  2. Fast and comprehensive understanding of new technologies and market trends. 
  3. Experienced manager of multi-projects and complex systems. 
  4. Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment 
  5. Investment/financial skills 
  6. Ability to comfortably interact at all levels from C-level and senior executives to lower level team members 
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  8. Ability to communicate effectively and share ideas 
Preferred Skills & Experience: 
  1. MBA is a plus
