查尔斯新肖像揭幕，血红一片，画风惊人，网友炸锅了……

The striking portrait shows Charles "bathed in red", and wearing the uniform of the Welsh Guards, sword in hand and with an "eco-friendly" Monarch butterfly landing on his shoulder — said to have been suggested by the King himself as a nod to his interest in conservation and the environment.

The 8.5 by 6.5-foot painting is by British artist Jonathan Yeo, who is no stranger to high-profile commissions, having painted Tony Blair, David Attenborough, Hollywood stars Nicole Kidman, and Malala Yousafzai. 

Originally, the image was commissioned in 2020 to celebrate the then Prince of Wales's 50 years as a member of The Drapers' Company two years hence. However, following the death of the Queen in 2022 it soon took on an entirely new significance, as it was now represented the King following his accession to the throne.

The King and Queen are reportedly happy with the portrait — Yeo told the BBC that Camilla said: “Yes you’ve got him,” after seeing the result, while the monarch was “mildly surprised by the strong color, but otherwise he seemed to be smiling approvingly”.

网友褒贬不一

这幅肖像画揭幕后，其出人意料的画风及大胆的猩红色调在网上引起了热议。

一些人表达了对画像的喜爱与赞美，认为其极具现代性的风格超越了传统肖像画的套路，威严中稍带戏谑，画中的蝴蝶更是点睛之笔。‍‍

但更多的人对这幅肖像画的评价十分负面。不少网友认为画像中的查尔斯就像“身处地狱”“沐浴在血海中”，像是“从地狱而来的恶魔”。

还有网友表示，理解画家想标新立异，尝试“非传统”的艺术风格，但这张画实在“像一幅恐怖电影海报”。

乔纳森·杨本人对肖像引发的非议似乎已坦然接受。他在接受BBC采访时还开玩笑地回应道：如果这被视为叛国，我真的可以用我的头来偿还，这是肖像画师最恰当的死法——砍掉他的头！‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

Yeo jokes: "If this was seen as treasonous, I could literally pay for it with my head, which would be an appropriate way for a portrait painter to die — to have their head removed!"
