有人跟我说，曾去地坛找我，或看了那一篇《我与地坛》去那儿寻找安静。可一来呢，我搬家搬得离地坛远了，不常去了。二来我偶尔请朋友开车送我去看它，发现它早已面目全非。我想，那就不必再去地坛寻找安静，莫如在安静中寻找地坛。恰如庄生梦蝶，当年我在地坛里挥霍光阴，曾屡屡地有过怀疑：我在地坛吗？还是地坛在我？现在我看虚空中也有一条界线，靠想念去迈过它，只要一迈过它便有清纯之气扑面而来。我已不在地坛，地坛在我。

Someone told me he came to meet me or look for peace of mind in the Altar of Earth after reading my article titled The Altar of Earth and Me. But, in the first place, I do not visit there as often as I used to because I moved far away. Secondly, when I occasionally asked my friends to drive me there, I found the place had changed entirely. I think we don’t have to go there for peacefulness. Instead, we can find our own Altar in a peaceful mind. Just like the famous story Zhuang Zhou Dreaming of Becoming a Butterfly, when I squandered time in the Altar of Earth, I was lost quite often than not, wondering whether I was in the Altar or the Altar was in me. Now I seem to see a line in the void, and I can get enlightened as soon as I cross it by imagination: I am not in the Altar. It is inside me.
