Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Psychiatry (Geoffroy)

Summary of position

Marie-Claude Geoffroy, an associate professor at McGill University in the department of Psychiatry at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute, and Canada Research Chair in Youth Suicide Prevention (www.mcgeoffroy.ca), is inviting applications for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship (with possibility of renewal based on demonstrated performance) at McGill University and the Douglas Mental Health University Institute. The selected candidate will be strongly encouraged to apply for external funding at the Canadian Institutes of Health Research of Canada (CIHR) and the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé.

We collaborate with the Groupe de recherche sur l’inadaptation psychosociale chez l’enfant in Quebec and the Papageno inter-university research team on suicide prevention. Dr Geoffroy has the support of two experienced statisticians, a lab manager, and a data analyst. Our team of researchers specializes in child and adolescent psychology, psychiatry, developmental and applied psychopathology, and psychosocial interventions.

The Psychiatry Department at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute provides a friendly and positive work environment.

The selected candidate will work in a rich multidisciplinary environment, collaborate with researchers at the national and international levels, and receive personalized supervision by Drs Geoffroy and Juster and other established researchers.

Description of tasks

The candidate will analyze survey data from the Quebec Longitudinal Study of Child Development linked with medical records to better understand associations between sexual diversity and self-reported mental health, and related medical services use.

The candidate will be introduced to longitudinal psychiatric epidemiology, and will access rich longitudinal cohort data via a secure online platform and physical environment located in a CADRISQ centre.

Required qualifications

Hold a doctoral degree in Psychology, Psychiatry, Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field;

Demonstrate knowledge or a strong interest in both epidemiological studies and administrative data;

Possess excellent research skills, including scientific writing; proficient in statistical software (SPSS, MPlus, R);

Have experience in mentoring students (or demonstrate an interest);

History of publication in scientific journals in epidemiology or longitudinal analyses.
