ouster，发音/ ˈaʊstə(r) /，表示dismissal or expulsion from a position，即把人开除或者赶走，是一个名词。

路透社的报道提到了在解雇奥尔特曼前，董事会收到了一封信：

Ahead of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s four days in exile, several staff researchers sent the board of directors a letter warning of a powerful artificial intelligence discovery that they said could threaten humanity, two people familiar with the matter told Reuters.

两名知情人士告诉路透社，在OpenAI首席执行官萨姆·奥尔特曼开始四天的流亡之前，几名内部研究人员向董事会发出了一封信，警告称一项强大的人工智能发现可能威胁人类。

exile表示the state of being barred from one's native country, typically for political or punitive reasons，即出于政治原因或因为受到惩罚，无法回到祖国的状态，流亡。这里是引申含义，表示他回不了公司了。

一封信就能赶走一个CEO吗？据路透社报道，这封信只是原因之一：

The sources cited the letter as one factor among a longer list of grievances by the board that led to Altman’s firing.

grievance的解释是这样的：If you have a grievance about something that has happened or been done, you believe that it was unfair. 即委屈，不满，觉得别人做事不公道。

这篇报道没有讲究竟还有哪些别的不满，不过提到在被解雇前一天，奥尔特曼在APEC会议上，说了这段话：

"Four times now in the history of OpenAI, the most recent time was just in the last couple weeks, I've gotten to be in the room, when we sort of push the veil of ignorance back and the frontier of discovery forward, and getting to do that is the professional honor of a lifetime," he said at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. A day later, the board fired Altman.

他在亚太经济合作组织峰会上表示：“在OpenAI的历史上，我曾经四次，最近一次是在过去几周，见证了我们有点揭开了无知的面纱，推进了发现的前沿，能够做到这一点是我职业生涯的光荣。”一天后，董事会解雇了奥尔特曼。

上面I've gotten to be in the room这句话并不是说他在哪个房间，而是表示他就在现场，亲眼见证了重要的进展。

在百老汇音乐剧Hamilton中，也有类似的说法。歌剧中有一首歌叫The Room Where It Happens，这里的房间指的是作出重要决策的地方。
