以上收到面试的同学,一直在后台给主页君留言,今年春招的面试有没有哪些雷区?面试遇到各种棘手的问题,到死该怎么回答?比如:

  • 被面试官发现自己的在撒谎,是不是死定了?

  • 上个月麦当劳买了多少瓶辣椒酱到底怎么算?
  • 面试官说我的实习经历很boring,我要怎么优雅地怼回去?

  • 被问到有没有男/女朋友的时候,我可以拒绝回答吗?
  • 还有比面试遇到前男友更让人崩溃的事吗?
主页君看到这些问题,只有一个心情,知道大家被面试害得这么惨,我就放心了。
如果能够挤进本来就不多的春招补招面试,那就更要谨慎对待了。趁着大家都陆陆续续准备接下来的面试,今天在这里给大家传授一些小技巧。
主页君询问了几位有参与过公司应届生/实习生招聘的资深导师,他们对于留学生在面试中的表现,总结了留学生面试最容易被坑的几大问题。

"Tell me about yourself."

最经典面试题,没有之一!
北美投行、四大、咨询等基本上第一个问题都是 "Tell me about yourself." 或者 "Tell me your story." 或者 "Walk me through your resume." 等等。
面试的这个开场白有多重要呢?First response = the First impression! 
很多面试官最后都说,一般面试结果从这个问题的回答技巧/内容就潜意识内定了,之后问的问题都只不过是验证之前的决定。 
该怎么回答才能做好开场白,博得面试官青睐呢?
1. 简单开首:
内容:涵盖一些比较基础的信息,包括哪里长大、哪所大学/商学院。一到两句就行了。
2. 你对此行业的兴趣来源和激情:
来源可以是:参与了 Info Session/Case Competition/学校Club/Networking认识的人群/个人投资常识等等。
Sample response: 
“I participated in a campus investing competition during my sophomore year, where I did in-depth research on the energy industry and recommended investing in Emphasis Energy. Their stock later rose by 75% and our team became the champion."
3. 为什么把它变成一个求职目标:
Sample response: 
“I applied to [Company name] and did marketing there for the summer. I did well and have helped the company improve their online marketing campaigns by over 30% in a month. However, I reflected and decided I wanted to do something more relevant to my finance major and quantitative in nature."
So I applied for private banking and interned in UBS last summer where I analyzed clients' portfolio and made investment recommendations. Through the internship, I networked greatly internally and therefore realize my greater interest, which is to work with clients on a larger scale."

"What is your greatest weakness?"
越是负面问题越要正面回答
一般这些稍微负面一点的问题都比较固定,只需要能提前精心准备好一套自己的说辞。
面试官问你的greatest weakness,除了想知道你的弱项会否影响你在这个岗位上的表现,也有两个很重要的目的:

  1. 想知道你有多了解自己
  2. 你有否有主动为自己的弱项/劣势做出改变
应付这种表面上很负面的问题,你可以:
  • 正面用词、态度回答一个本质负面的问题。听起来有点难。但是,面试官就是想看你在遇到难题、挑战的时候,你的weakness会否影响你完成工作任务。
  • Focus on Solutions. 用一句带过你的弱项就足够,然后表达你已经从错失中学习,自己已经在(必须是已经)如何改进,或是你已经改正了多少。
  • 用正面的态度回答这个问题。但不要显得虚伪,诚恳还是非常重要的。不要编一些你根本没有的weakness,甚至说你没有任何weakness,这样会显得你自视过高。
Sample response: 
“Well, I used to be pretty horrible at public speaking. When I started college, it was a massive problem, and I was just terrified of doing it, and I didn’t do a very good job. So first I took the small step of promising myself that I would speak up in front of really small groups, for example in class. Then, I worked up to taking a public speaking class, which made a big difference. Now, even though I get nervous, I feel like its something that doesn’t completely hold me back, and, in fact, recently I gave a speech at a conference to over 100 people. My hands were shaking the whole time, but I got really good feedback at the end.

你有没有男/女朋友?
没有标准答案的答案其实是...
面试环节,的确会被问到标题这种刁钻古怪的问题。这时候单身狗的好处就来了,直接回答没有就行。但作为有另一半的,斟酌许久都不知什么是标准答案。
(BTW,幸亏美国是一个注重隐私的国家,大多数公司的发问再出乎意料也不会到问“你有没有男女朋友”这么程度的。)
这类问题属于Outside the box questions,它可能不那么常见,但如果冷不丁在Behavioral Interview过程中冒出来,就会杀你个措手不及。
确实,在面试时遇到的95%的问题都跟网上搜索的相似,换句话说就是:面试环节的Behavioral Questions,全都是可以提前预测和准备的!!!
那么,了解Behavioral Interview回答思路就决定了,你能不能在面试官的套路上越走越远了。
从过去的经验中找出六到八个例子。你过去生活中的所有经历都可以用来当作例子。
  • Academics,such as class projects (How did you work with others? Lead others?)
  • Sports (Will your goal-orientation transfer to your career? What did you learn about being a team player?)
  • Activities (Have you published the story, given a speech, or marched in the Cal Band? Were you a leader?)
  • Volunteer, work, or internship experiences (When did your performance exceed expectations? Achieve something new? Make things easier? Save or make money?)
不仅仅只准备积极的例子,包括有一些失败经历也需要准备,但是更重要的是你采取了什么行动来完善不完美的结果。
一般来说对每个问题的回答得控制在2-3分钟以内。在这很短的叙述例子的过程中,你的重点应该是强调Action 和Result,这是面试者最关心的部分。
所以在时间分配上,对于Situation和Task你要非常简洁地一笔带过,交代清楚大概的背景就可以了。

Q:Describe a time when you worked in a team. What role did you play?
SITUATION:Last semester, I was part of a team of five people for a group project in my Introduction to Marketing class. We were given the assignment to develop a marketing strategy for a new line of toys for Mattel. As part of the project, we were required to create a 15-page marketing plan by the end of the last day of class.
ACTION:I was the team leader, in charge of coordinating all of the group meetings and delegating tasks. I took the initiative to create a meeting schedule so that our group met every Wednesday afternoon, emailed the agenda to each group member prior to our meetings, and kept an Excel spreadsheet of all of the tasks. I also worked on making the team cohesive and supportive of each other by mediating conflicts. To do so, I facilitated discussions, listening to each member, and helping them to work towards a compromise.
RESULT:As a result of my efforts, we finished the project one week ahead of schedule and were chosen as the group with the “most innovative” marketing plan. Also, the number of conflicts between members significantly decreased and we were able to agree
