出自Henry V《亨利五世》
释义:拥有一颗金子般的心
例句:He is the nicest person I've ever met in my life- he has a heart of gold.
他是我见过最好的人,他有一颗金子般的心灵。

出自The Rape of Lucrece 《鲁克丽丝受辱记》
英文解释:A person who is active late at night
例句:She’s a night owl and has always done her best work after midnight.
她是个夜猫子,往往在午夜过后工作效率最高。

出自Othello 《奥赛罗》
英文解释:Display your feelings openly, for all to see.
For when my outward action doth demonstrate

Cross 比较常见的是“交错”的意思,但是在这里它是“反对,阻碍”的意思。在西方,古代的人认为星星决定一个人的命运。
所以star-crossed lovers 就是指两人之间受到星星的阻碍,是感情要面对很多挫折的一对爱人。

例句:They are star-crossed lovers.
他们是对不幸的恋人。

例句:He broke the ice with a mild joke.

嫉妒得眼睛都绿了,是不是很形象?

出自The Merchant of Venice《威尼斯商人》
英文释义: people do not see the faults of the people they love
love is blind and lovers cannot see  
(这个短语其实早在1405年就有了,但是当时并不是很多人用,后来莎士比亚修改了这个短语并用在了《威尼斯商人》里面,之后又多次出现在他创作的戏剧作品里面,逐渐变成一句人们很常用的短语。)

例子:I don’t know why Rita likes Jacky. He’s inconsiderate, he’s vain and he isn’t even good-looking.
--- Love is blind!
不知道Rita 为什么喜欢Jacky。他不考虑别人的感受,很自负,还长得不好看。
---爱情是盲目的。

出自Julius Caesar《凯撒大帝》
英文释义:that something is indistinguishable or incomprehensible.
例句:Her explanation of Einstein's theory of relativity was all Greek to me. 她对爱因斯坦相对论的解释我完全不懂。

例句:He forgot the lyrics during the singing contest and that's made him a laughing stock ever since.
